About me
My name is Karmen. In the year 1981 I was born in a small village, 60 kilometers away from the city, I will write about. At that time still just a small capital of the most northern republic of Yugoslavia, Ljubljana was a city with a warm smell of socialism in the air. But times have past and today the name Ljubljana stands for an almost modern, trendy place with many bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and green patches of parks… Easily accessible, lying in the hearth of a »new« country Slovenia represents also a good starting point for daily trips and discoveries of beauties around.
I moved to Ljubljana in a year 2000 for my studies. In the first years of course I took what was most obvious: parties. I meet a lot of places and people. And I also moved a lot. In these 8 years I lived in almost all parts and every of them left different memories in me.
In years my taste has changed and now I have to say that I enjoy much more the cozy leisure time in some park or back yard restaurant garden. I also like to take a walk on the cobbled streets in the old part. But what I love the most today in Ljubljana is how it changes every year. From a shy city, almost hidden from the rest of the Europe, it transformed into a vivid place, where everybody can find something for themselves.
What gives the most pleasure to me, are the summer festivals. Every year there are more and more of them… Music, theatre, photo exhibitions, street performances, sport events, unusual installations across the city and much much more… So, all I can say is the most simple and honest invitation: Welcome, come and enjoy!
